St. Philomena's remains were discovered in the catacombs in 1802. Her relics were eventually enshrined in Mugnano, Italy, where healing miracles immediately began to take place, and overnight she became one of the most popular saints of the Church earning the nickname "Wonder Worker." Widespread devotion to her inspired many of the faithful, including many Saints, Blessed, and Venerable, whose spiritual lives flourished because of her.
