Saint Amelia was born into a religious family in the now Belgium-Luxembourg area. She was preparing to enter the Benedictine Abbey at Munsterbilsen when Charles, son of King Pepin became enamored with her beauty and virtue. He pursued her for several years and at one point broke her arm in a struggle in which it was miraculously healed. Charles then resigned himself to her religious calling. Many miracles are attributed to her before and after her death.
