Saint Kilian, an Irish monk known as the Apostle of Franconia. He was consecrated Bishop, and in 686  with 11 companions went to evangelize Bavaria. He converted Gozbert, the Duke of Wurzburg. Kilian advised Gozbert that his marriage was unlawful, incurring the wrath of his pagan wife Geilana. She then had Kilian killed when the Duke was away on a military expedition. The site where Kilian was martyred became a pilgrimage site and many miracles occurred there.
