Saint Anthony Mary Zaccaria was born of a noble family in Italy. He became a medical doctor yet wanted to serve the Church. He was ordained a priest six years later. He promoted 40 hours devotion, Eucharistic adoration, and ringing the church bells on Fridays at 3:00 pm to remember Christ’s passion. He sought to unify the Body of Christ rather than divide us. Pope Benedict XVI called him “one of the great figures of Catholic reform in the 1500s.” He died of natural causes after years of penances and endless labors of charity. His body was found incorrupt.
