Saint Elizabeth is from the line of Aaron, and a cousin of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was “righteous before God” and bore St. John the Baptist in her old age. After Mary had conceived Jesus she went to visit her cousin and help with the upcoming birth of John. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting John leapt with joy in Elizabeth’s womb and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
