Saint Peter Faber was a French Jesuit missionary priest and theologian. He was a co-founder of the Society of Jesus, along with his friends, Ignatius of Loyola and Francis Xavier. He became a well-known spiritual director to the clergy and wayward lay people, preaching in more than 25 European cities during the Protestant Reformation. His final journey brought him to Rome in 1546 where he was to attend the Council of Trent. Here he died at age 40 from exhaustion and hardship from traveling in the presence of Ignatius
