Father Kapaun (1916 -1951) and Father Capodanno (1929 -1967) were US Army/Navy Chaplains who died for the men they cared for. Fr. Kapaun served during WWII and the Korean War where he died in a POW camp. Fr. Capodanno served in the Vietnam War dying during a battle while administering the sacraments and medical treatment to the soldiers. The US acknowledged both with high honors.
