St. Jude Thaddeus was the brother of St. James the Less and a cousin of Our Lord. Jude is usually pictured with a picture of Our Lord because he cured the King of Edessa of leprosy in the name of Jesus, a club because he was martyred by being beaten to death with a club and a flame of fire because he was present at Pentecost. He is very popular as the patron of impossible cases.
