Saint Photina was the Samaritan woman who accepted the “living water” from Jesus at Jacob’s Well in Sychar, as told in John 4: 5-42. Her name means “enlightened one”. In both Greek and Roman traditions, she preached and converted many to Christianity, including her family and Nero’s daughter. She died a martyr’s death and is thought of as equal to the Apostles. Her remains are supposedly preserved in the Church of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
