Saint Thomas of Villanova was a Spanish Augustine Bishop of Valencia. He was an absentminded professor of theology and philosophy who was committed to the poor (called the “Father to the poor”) and impoverished, and the spiritual and material life in his diocese. He founded colleges, organized priests for service to the Moors, and promoted the Tridentine reforms. He died of natural causes after giving all his wealth to the poor.
